Bio

I am a travel writer and adventurer based in the Colorado mountains. After two decades of instilling curiosity in high school students, I took a detour to honor my creative side. My first taste of the world beyond the US and Canada came from a high school trip to Mexico and a summer semester in France. Since then, my travel wishlist has been growing faster than I can keep up with. My fluency in French and Spanish has been incredibly useful while living and traveling abroad. I've studied in France and England and have had the opportunity to teach English in France and the Dominican Republic.

Travel background

Fueled by childhood road trips across the US and wilderness forays with my family, the travel bug has led me to a growing collection of US states and countries. Living abroad for work and study offered me a jumping off point to discover Western Europe, the British Isles and the Dominican Republic. I won’t be content until I’ve set foot on each continent and learned a non-European language.

Best travel experiences

Choosing my best travel experience is impossible, since all of my favorite experiences are so different from each other. There’s backpacking to wilderness hot springs in Colorado, swimming in Caribbean waterfall pools, spying whales and dolphins in Mexico, searching for ancient rock art and encountering a high school friend at a hostel in Italy. Perhaps the experience that tops them all is watching a grazing sea turtle as I held hands with my husband while snorkeling in Guadeloupe.
