The palace

A historical Clementi piano stands proudly in the center of the music room, which is said to be one of the oldest rooms in the entire palace. The room boasts ornate ceilings and was designed by Mateus Vicente de Oliveira.

The gardens

Queluz Palace’s gardens are just as impressive as the palace building itself. In addition to the well-manicured lawns and hedges, there are various sculptures by John Cheere — a famous 18th-century English sculptor.

The Tiled Canal, with its 150 meters of tiled walls and sluice of water, is one of the gardens’ main focal points. The colorful tiles depict typical 18th-century scenes and the canal has been kept in perfect condition.

How to get there?

Queluz Palace is located just 15 kilometers from Lisbon and getting to the palace is fairly straightforward. If you are coming from Lisbon, it is best to reach Queluz by train.

Get off at the Queluz-Belas station, which is roughly 1 kilometer from the palace.

You can also take the 717 bus from Lisbon and get off at the Queluz station, which is a 15-minute walk from the palace. Driving to the palace is also a good option, considering that there is parking available on the palace grounds.

What are the opening times?

The palace is open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM, with the last admission being at 5:30 PM. The ticket office is closed every day between 12 PM and 1 PM, but there is an automatic ticket vending machine available.
